The process of human fertility is an issue that touches millions of lives across the world.
There are thousands upon thousands of couples who for one reason or another are having difficulty becoming pregnant.
Many try the numerous fertility treatments that are available and some succeed, while many others fail.
Many simply give up hope of ever being able to start a family.
But there is a saying that says, "Where there is life, there is hope."
This section of the health-image.com website is dedicated to the problems of infertility and in a series of related articles, goes into this often painful subject in some depth.
It is here to bring hope to people who may be feeling hopeless, powerless and at the end of their tether.
There are a number of infertility treatments that are currently available for couples who are having difficulty conceiving.
We will be covering the more popular ones in our articles as well as some of the not so well known but equally valid treatments. Some of those covered include:
- In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
- Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
- Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
- Gamete or Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer (GIFT or ZIFT)
- Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

First Hand Experience of Infertility
One of the consultants to this series of articles and his partner had first hand experience of the trauma of being unable to conceive naturally. According to him,
"We had been through countless medical tests, screenings, blood tests, DNA tests and round after round of consultations with fertility experts. There were obviously some complications that were preventing the pregnancy and these needed to be overcome.
IVF was the only logical way forward considering our ages and the other factors that were hampering our efforts to get pregnant. We tried this approach three times and each one promised so much, but in the end failed. We tried once more (and promised ourselves it would be the last time).
In the end, after those three failed IVF attempts, the fourth brought us our beautiful daughter. At the time, we were aged 43 and 50."
There is Hope
This is something that really should be undertaken after plenty of serious discussion and weighing up all the alternatives that are available. But remember that there are alternatives and there is hope, even when it appears that there is none.
So if you are thinking that it may never happen to you, all we can say is; "Never give up." Because if you never give up, you can never fail.
