Who Needs Nutrisystem?

30 Sep 2010 | : diet

Most people have heard of Nutrisystem and the kind of diet food delivery service to your home they provide for their customers. But who exactly are their customers and what is it about their special brand of weight loss diet that attracts so many people?

Well, the bulk of their customers are people who need the benefits of a convenient diet that they don’t have to do any of their own work to make it work for them. The several diet plans offered by Nutrisystem are designed to be as easy and convenient to use as is possible while still providing meals that are both nutritious, low in calories and tasty and varied. They are perfect for busy people who work hard, perhaps long hours away from home and simply don’t have the time available to concentrate on a regular diet. They are also great for people who just can’t be bothered with all the hassle of seeking out and buying a load of special ingredients, then weighing and measuring to get the right amounts all the while keeping a diary of the number of calories consumed every day.

With Nutrisystem’s diet plans, you get your meals delivered to your home in a four week batch that covers all three main meals of the day plus two additional snacks to eat in between meals to stave off any hunger or cravings to nibble at something. There are no diet sheets, calorie counting or weighing and measuring to do. No shopping and searching around for ingredients. No preparing or cooking food. With Nutrisystem meals, you simply take a meal out of its packaging, place it in the microwave if it needs to be eaten hot and you’re good to go!

So all this fantastic convenience and simplicity begs the question, “Why doesn’t everybody simply use Nutrisystem and forget about regular diets?”

Well, there are disadvantages to the convenient Nutrisystem diet plans, as you knew I was going to say! For starters, no matter how good the meals are, when they are processed, packaged and sent out from a warehouse, their quality will never be anywhere near as good as a fresh home cooked meal. It just cannot be done with today’s technology, although don’t rule this out ever happening in the future. For now, a processed, pre-packed meal is exactly that and while the quality is as good as it can be, it will never be great.

Next, while the meals are varied and actually quite tasty, the size is rather small. Okay, this is probably necessary to keep the calorie count within bounds and it might also seem pretty obvious that you can’t be on a diet to lose weight and be tucking into a massive plate full of food! Unless its a pile of lettuce leaves and celery, perhaps. But a real meal that tastes good just is not going to be large!

Next, their meals have to be paid for! While they replace your regular food and many people will find that the price is comparable to what they already spend on food, it still has to be paid out in one go (or put on your credit card and spread out that way, but you pay interest on it). With discounts, you can get a month supply of diet meals for less than $400, so at $100 per week for three meals (and snacks) every day is actually very affordable for losing weight and not having to do any work to achieve it.

So who needs Nutrisystem? Well, those people who want to lose weight as easily as possible and who don’t mind eating packet food. The advantages are very tempting when you realize that this is probably one of the easiest diets you’ll ever go on, so if you don’t expect gourmet meals, you are onto a sure thing with Nutrisystem diet meals that are geared up for today’s modern pace of life.
