Healthy Eating

31 Jul 2008 | : healthy diet

Following on from my last post here, where I looked at getting the ball rolling and you into a healthy way of life. Ok, this is not rocket science and most of it is common sense, but until someone tells you how easy it is to do this and actually get fit and healthy easily, then are you going to do it? No!

So consider yourself told!

In this installment, we’ll look at some easy to apply healthy eating tips to keep you in tip top condition, living a fit and healthy lifestyle.

First up you need to throw out all those sweet, sugary processed foods like cakes, biscuits, pastries etc that you habitually snack on. Yes you do have to do that! What’s more your really should replace them with fresh fruits, berries, seeds and nuts.

Why would you do that?

Well, for starters, snacking becomes a habit that is hard to stop, so by placing yourself on a strict diet that will make you cut out all snacking in between meals, you end up fighting the habit the hard way. What often happens is the habit is so deep seated that you find yourself craving the foods that you were habitually snacking on and breaking your diet to get them.

Better to substitute these bad foods with healthy options.

Fruit that is fresh is a great option because it satisfies your body’s craving for sugar and gives you a good energy boost as well without all the bad fats, salt and preservatives that come in biscuits and pastries etc that clog up your arteries and pile on the pounds.

Berries like blueberries and cranberries are packed full of antioxidants to help prevent cancer cells from forming as well as gut protecting proteins that can help alleviate problems such as IBS and Crohn’s disease. Strawberries make a great snack and are full of vitamin C as well.

Nuts and seeds (unsalted) make perfect snacks as a handful of sunflower seeds is rich in protein and minerals and low in fat. Unsalted peanuts are also high in protein and as long as you go easy will not make you anywhere near as fat as eating biscuits pound for pound.

All things are relative, so rather than cut out, switch over and cut down instead and lose weight slowly and healthily.

So now you’re substituting all those bad, high sugar, high salt, high fat snacks like biscuits, pastries and cakes for healthy options like fresh fruit, berries, nuts and seeds. Let’s look at those home cooked, fresh vegetables on your dinner plate and their importance in your diet.

This one is a no brainer. You know in yourself, deep down, that eating all those fried, fatty foods and fast junk food from the multitude of takeaways that litter every shopping mall, high street and out of town supermarket complex is bad for you and your health. Pizza, hamburgers, fries, fried chicken… the list goes on.

All of this crap is killing you.

It’s rotting your insides and piling on the pounds. It’s loading up your arteries with bad cholesterol, leading to down the path to diabetes and sending down heart attack alley. You have to stop eating that crap before it kills you – and it will!

If you can’t cook, get off your lazy backside and learn how to! Then come back here.

When you know how to cook simple food and I’m not talking about being a top chef here, then you can start to change your diet into a healthy one. When you cook for yourself and your family, you use fresh ingredients like vegetables that you have to peel yourself, meat that you have to cut up yourself. That sort of thing.

If that sounds like hard work, then get off this channel and go back to your fast food. Maybe I’ll come to your funeral in a few years, because if you keep eating junk food you’ll be dead long before your time.

If you’re still with me, you’ll know deep in your heart that I’m telling you the truth. Fresh vegetables with every main meal of the day are the way to get yourself back into a healthy way of life.

Why?

Vegetables contain the vitamins and minerals that your body needs and can absorb much more easily than it can from taking pills. They contain fiber that helps your gut work more efficiently to clear out all the crap (literally) that has been stuck in there for who knows how long.

Fact: The average American is walking around with seven pounds of undigested red meat in their colon. If that’s you, then you had better start doing something about it NOW, or colon cancer is coming your way!

Have I shocked you into thinking a little differently about the way you eat?

Good. Then you can start today by going to the grocery store and buying some vegetables and cooking them with your main meal (hint: which should NOT be pizza).

A Healthy Lifestyle

29 Jul 2008 | : health

Following on from my first introductory post here at Health Image, I’d like to get the ball rolling with the first of our healthy lifestyle tips to get you out of that chair and into a health and fitness kick, if you feel up to it of course!

The first thing you need to have before you do anything else is to have the desire to be fitter and healthier. That’s because without the desire to do something, you won’t do it no matter what anyone else says to you. No one else can make you fitter and healthier, only you can do that for yourself.

Sitting on a sofa watching someone else work-out on the TV won’t get you fit.

So you have to do it for yourself. You have to want it. When you have gotten yourself into that mind-set of wanting to do it for yourself, then you are ready to get started on that road to a healthy lifestyle.

This won’t happen overnight, of course. Getting fit and healthy takes exercise, time and patience as well as a good dose of get up and go. That you have to generate from the very depths of yourself. Its there, but you have to find it within yourself. Its a little voice that has probably been stifled for so many years by unhearing ears, but its there and its waiting to tell you that you can do something if you want it enough. Its your lifestyle and its your decision whether you want to improve it or not. You can educate yourself on how to improve your health with some weight loss tips and advice on diet and exercise.

So now I throw the challenge over to you.

Do you want to do this? Do you want to feel better in yourself and feel healthier than you “were”, because another part of motivating yourself is getting the belief into your head that whatever you’re feeling now and however unhealthy you may be right now… in a moment’s time all that will be in the past and you have the whole of your future to look forward to with fresh eyes and a fresh outlook. It starts right now.

Are your ready?

Welcome to Health Image, the health and fitness related site that has been created to work with the whole image of health and to bring you lots of informative articles on many healthy related topics.

These topics will range from general health issues to alternative health and natural remedies, fitness and exercise, weight loss and dieting, illnesses and their causes and recognised cures, the many ways of keeping your body fit as well as many others.

Health is probably one of the most important aspects of life, as without good health, the quality of life is undermined, so it is such an important aspect to consider.

If you are physically or mentally disabled in some way and have found this page, take heart as every person is an individual and their level of health is not going to fall into any pigeon hole or “average person” label that so many people tend to generalise with.

Whatever your level of health is right now, it can either be improved or allowed to diminish by the actions that as an individual you take as you choose to take them.

The main mission of this site, then is to put forward ideas to get the individual person to think things through for themselves rather than arbitrarily tell them what they should or should not do to get or stay healthy.

The information will be provided for you to read, digest and then choose what you want to do with it rather than have it rammed down your throats and told this is what you HAVE to do! We all have a brain inside our heads and that brain is supposed to make us intelligent beings that are able to think for ourselves, make decisions based on what we see, hear and otherwise sense and put into action those decisions in the best way for ourselves.

So welcome to enlightenment without strings!
